Step-by-Step Instructions on How to Make a Caramel Latte
Now that you have all of your ingredients, it’s time to start making your latte!
Here are the step-by-step instructions on how to make a caramel latte:
Step One: Grind the Beans
Before you do anything you must first grind the coffee beans of your choice. If you’re preparing espresso, you’ll want to grind your beans on the finest setting. We need as strong a coffee drink as possible to counteract the caramel’s sweetness. 20-22 grams of coffee beans is what we recommend, preferably from an espresso roast, is ideal.
If you don’t have a coffee grinder, then you can simply use your favorite pre-ground coffee. Just keep in mind that you may need to add more coffee, depending on the type of roast.
Step Two: Heat the Milk
Heat up your milk on the stove. You don’t want it to be too hot, so just heat it until it is steaming. You can also put the milk in the microwave for about 45 seconds.
While the milk is heating up, move on to the next step.
Step Three: Brew the Coffee
We recommend using an espresso machine to brew the coffee, however, if you don’t have one, you can also use a french press or whatever brew method you choose.
Just be mindful that, depending on the brew method, you may need to add more ground coffee to make the coffee stronger.
Step Four: Stir in the caramel syrup and vanilla
Once the coffee is brewed, stir in the caramel syrup and vanilla extract. How much you add is up to you, but we recommend starting with one tablespoon of caramel syrup and 1/4 teaspoon of vanilla.
You can always add more, but you can’t take it out after you’ve added it.
Step Five: Froth the milk
If you have an espresso machine, use the steamer to froth the milk. If you don’t have an espresso machine, you can use a handheld milk frother or even just a whisk to froth the milk you heated up on the stove or in the microwave.
Step Six: Add the milk and enjoy!
Now, it’s time to pour the frothed milk into the coffee, stir and enjoy!
And that’s it! You now know how to make a caramel latte right in your own kitchen.
Quick easy tip: For an Iced Caramel Latte, simply pour everything over ice and enjoy!
